787-9 Issues

By @batata

Hi, great job on the 789, really liking it so far! I had a few issues/ suggestions I wanted to bring to your attention.

    1. On the right engine on the GE planes, the rear panel is miscolored and darker as it should be not matching the forward panel, see the screenshot here. This issue is on all the GE engine skins but not on the RR engine skins. Screenshot
    2. The mismatched elevators I reported a while ago on the 788 still has not been fixed on the 789, the right elevator is definitely a different size of misaligned with the left, see the screenshot. This is the same issue for both the 788 and 789. Screenshot
    3. Wing flex on the ground looks a little too high, see the image for comparison. I think the end of the wing should be lower. The 788 wing flex on the ground was more accurate I believe. Real 789, Bravo 789, Bravo 788
    4. Leading edge of the wing over the engine should have the same metal material as the rest of the wing: Real 789, Bravo 789
    5. Has the default performance calculator been removed from the EFB? If so I would like it returned, especially as it had the function to send the v speeds directly to the FMC.
    6. The door buttons in the EFB are not all working and it seems that the Door FWD Left opens all 3 doors on the left side. The rest of the door buttons don’t work expect for the cargo doors.
    7. Some livery requests: ANA, ANZ standard, Air Canada, Egypt Air, Korean, United old livery

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, Any updates on the wing leading edge issue I pointed out in the original post? Will this be fixed in the next update?

Leading edge of the wing over the engine should have the same metal material as the rest of the wing

        1. That got fixed. It will be released on the next update.

Since this next update is huge and we are STILL adding more and more things, the release date is still unknown. And just like I tell everyone, we are not going to rush out an update. We will make it right. But the sooner the better for both sides as we have more projects to work with and are significantly delayed.

            Hi All!

I have a question regarding the gsx profile, the stair for the back left exit is not aligned properly. I am using the profile given by the website from Bravoairspace... Would love for help and a fix! Thank you!

            1. Hi,

Okay, this wasn't like this before. Interesting how GSX is always faulty with our aircraft. I wonder why...
Anyways, yes, this can be fixed. We can update it. Also this can be edited by the user as well.
But we'll make sure to fix it.

Thank you for letting me know.

No problem! I unfortunately do not know how to update it manually, I have tried but to no avail. Hopefully a small hotfix gets released, thank you so much!

                  1. Yes. I think I can do it today. I'll upload it with a link to you here to test it. And hoping to get a report from you once you've checked.

Hi, I would just like to ask if you were already on the way for this small hotfix? Thanks!

                        1. I see the issue. Let me fix it now. There shouldn't be any stairs there. Not sure as to why it appears.
                          1. It should be like this from now on.

Go ahead and update the GSX profiel

                    Hi there,

I had a quick question. I'm unable to input a zfw higher than 350,000lb in the FMC with the aircraft saying the value is invalid. I'm not sure why this is as with my simbrief flight plan, my zfw from CYYZ to OMDB was 364,00lbs. I'm unsure why it is capped at 350,000.

                    Thanks

                    1. Hi,

Can you please import the ZFW from Simbrief via the FMC?

Hi, I've just received the Winwing PAP3 (MCP) and its works out of the box with the default Asobo 787-10 in MSFS 2020 however, it doesn't work with the Bravo 787-9. Any ideas how to get round this?

                        Many thanks

                        1. I've reached out to Max at Winwing and still no response. I will email him again today.

None of us here have the Winwing PAP3 MCP. Have you tried to modify It for the BA787? Is it supposed to work out of the box? Meaning, is it plug and play? We'll get back to you regarding this as I think there's a team member with this hardware.

Thanks for coming back so quickly. There is no where to modify it unless I run it through Mobi flight which currently don't have any profiles for the BA787-9. The Winwing software is call "Sim App Pro" and it works flawlessly with the Asobo 787-10 just by plug & play. I assumed this would be the same for the BA787-9 as its based on the default Asobo 787-10. Is there any way i can rename it to the default 787-10 and the PAP3 might recognise it. Is this possible?

                                  1. I'm going to need to purchase these hardware. I can't config these birds without them.

They're actually very good quality. I have the Winwing PAP3 (MCP) and the PFP-3N (FMS). I was really hoping the both of these would work with the BA 787-9. Do you have any sort of FMS pre-sets for mobiflight? I did e-mail Winwing and they responded by saying its up to the aircraft designers to get in contact with them to get them on to the compatibility list for their new products.

Thanks again for coming back to me. I'm not entity sure which file. It fully works with the default Asobo 787-10. Would it be possible to rename the BA 797-9 to Asobo 787-10 or would this create issues with the aircraft? If possible please can you let me know how to do this.

                                                  1. If you rename any folders, keep in mind to rename any folders inside the aircraft.cfg file and any names inside the texture.cfg that's located inside the _COMMON folder.

                                              Hi there,

I love flying this aircraft but I think for added realism it would be cool to see engine wobble on the 787s. Not only that It would be nice if the by turning the yoke left and right, the speed at which the ailerons are activated needs to be a lot slower. They deploy too quickly when turning the aircraft, such as doing a flight control test on the ground. This also means the spoiler speed might need adjusting. Hoping to see Egyptair soonnn!!

                                              Thank you

                                              1. Hi Ziad,
The engine wobble was done two months ago. It's all waiting to be processed to an updated body where many elements are controlled and modelled to reflect the real world aircraft.
The aileron and spoiler speeds is the last thing that needs to be taken care of.

And you will get that livery.

Hi, thanks for fixing the engine panel issue! Any updates regarding point number 4 from above regarding the wing leading edge over the engine?

Leading edge of the wing over the engine should have the same metal material as the rest of the wing: Real 789, Bravo 789

                                                    1. Let us update the 2024/2020 compatible update and then we can move to that.

                                                      Hi there,
well, the stabilizer was fixed on the 787-8. The update should be up soon. It has been green lit.
I can fix the stabilizer on the 787-9.

                                                      Regarding statement 1>
Can you please be more detailed about? I'm a bit confused at the moment.

Statement 3 is a good call. But regarding the wing flex I would disagree.
                                                      https://flic.kr/p/vMCEKu

The performance calculator is what I call an extra feature that the Boeing systems include. They are available on Simbrief and on the FMC itself. The values it will give you are the same if they were calculated on the EFB, but the performance calculator will return.

The door buttons are off at the moment but on the updated EFB you'll be able to control each door individually.

                                                      Additional liveries will arrive.

Thanks for the response! Regarding the 1st issue, please see this screenshots. Right Engine, rear panel is darker than front panel. Left engine, is normal, engine all white. This is on all the liveries with GE engines, even if the engine is not white, the rear panel is darker on the right engine

For the wingflex, I think it is a subtle difference, but mainly the wing tip itself I think should be lower, it is easier to notice if you look from the onboard wing views rather than exterior. Here is another example of what I mean: Bravo 789 vs IRL. If you zoom in towards the wingtips, IRL the wingtip looks lower than the Bravo model. BTW, great work on all the subtle details and markings around the plane and looking forward to future updates and liveries!

                                                          1. I think regarding the height of the wings via the window view its due to the camera zoom. When elements are zoomed-in they do not look natural and tend to look bigger and closer then they should. But this is a topic I've been thinking about for a while when I see wing view videos... If the wings are bend down then when facing it from the front the wings will not look as they should. So it's a tricky situation. Now, it could be that the engines we see in real life are full of fuel and they go down a bit.

                                                            Regarding the engines,
Okay, now I see what you mean about the reverser on the right is darker then the reverser on the left. I get it. I thought I released a dirty reverser shell but they should be equal at all times. That has to be fixed. Thank you for that.

                                                          2. In reply toLeadDeveloper:

Will the updated EFB come in the next update along with the stabilizer? I am super excited!

Also regarding the statement about the engine (statement 1). If you look at the Etihad livery, the right engine has a darker tint than the fully white left engine.

                                                              Thank you so much again!

                                                              1. The updated EFB has to undergo some checks before I release it, but we'll see if we can do it in late February. The stabilizer fix can also be part of the livery update package.
