update 2 787-8 amazing but mini issue
- 787 is bouncing on the ground when parked. Maybe GSX but i dont have that issue from other airplanes.
- Braking is kind of off too strong. (Also, im not sure if the left brake is not working, and the right brake is just doing all the work strongly.)
- The rudders are very weak ( to turn the airplane on taxi way i have to be at a low speed).
- Im going to test the sensitivity on my end but I dont have issues with the pmdg or fenix with the rudders and the brakes
overall I love the model and how the wings turns/ speed brakes and everything else.
Any update on take off calculations and landing calculations for the autobrake?
Francis @LeadDeveloper2025-01-24 23:43:54.842ZHowdie there!
787 bouncing on the ground sounds like something else is triggering it.
Braking is, we think, just right where it is. We had them weaker when it was first released. It wasn't popular with users. Good news is that we don't model tire burning :)
Rudders weakness on turns? you mean the nose gear or rudder control sensitivity? Normally, there's a way to maneuver this when turning. It should be easy once you find the trick.
But it shouldn't turn fast.Fenix is a small plane, and the A320 turns beautifully in real life. I just saw one yesterday turn perfectly in a small space after it was pushed back straight. It did engine start and turned left too well.
I have the PMDG 737 and 777 but I know the 737 turns quick like a small plane it is.The take off calculations will return. As for now, you can use the one in the FMC which is basically the same and or the ones from Simbrief.

I agree with Adam here regarding the plane's steering and also braking.
Steering in the 787-8 is very sluggish at the moment and makes taxiing around the airport difficult. Compared to the 777F and Kuro 787-8, the BA 787-8 is a lot slower when making turns. I ended up testing the difference between the BA 787-8 and 777F and found that the BA 787-8 took twice as long to complete the same turn at the same speed. I think the steering performance should be similar to the Kuro 787-8 or 777F.
When it comes to braking performance, I noticed similar behavior Adam did. I have rudder pedals and noticed that the left brakes do nothing to stop the plane. The left brakes don't work at all.
The right side brakes on the other hand do work but account for 100% of all the braking of the aircraft. I think the braking performance is good. The left brakes just need to be fixed with braking strength split between both sides. There are some other issues or things I noticed with update 2. I just want to know if I should add those here or make a separate topic for it.
Aside from that, Update 2 has been great and I hope some of these issues can be fixed.
Francis @LeadDeveloper2025-01-26 02:29:16.658ZHi there, go ahead and make a separate post about the issues you found on update-2.
Regarding the other aircraft turning speed, we prefer to use real-world input vs other developers.
As a matter of fact, this is the very first time we have received the turning feedback.I'll run it with two real-world airline pilots I'm friends with and see what they say, but so far, this is the very first time I've heard concerns about turning and the feedback has been positive on the handling.
I'll look into the 787-8's lack of brakes on the left gear. Again, this is another first-time feedback, very interesting. I will let you guys know.- H@hmmthonkyes
Alright. I'll go ahead and make a separate post.
Thanks for taking a look at the turning performance and brakes!
I'm also going to add that when it comes to turning with the plane, I found that steering with half rudder/tiller input was no different than full rudder/tiller input. I figured I'd report that as well since it might help. There's a chance it's an issue on my end but I haven't had the same problem with other planes.
Francis @LeadDeveloper2025-01-26 17:11:25.221ZIm testing the plane right now and I will twitch it live. I am experiencing some heavy turning on my end. So you guys are right. I've ask the testers to give me their input. Just today a pilot was using the 787-8. But he didn't have any issue with heavy turning.

Please don’t forget about the breaking i tested it like 3 times. The left brake is not working on the rudder pedals. The right has all the power.
Francis @LeadDeveloper2025-01-26 17:43:09.488ZTrue. Let me try to test it now.

Francis @LeadDeveloper2025-01-26 17:57:15.993ZFound it. This has been like this since it first was released as it was inherited from the default 787-10, which does the same thing with the pedal brake. I will look into this and attempt to add left and right brakes.

No problem, understood.
We consumers don’t understand the stress of the developers :(
Thank you!
Francis @LeadDeveloper2025-02-13 22:53:41.328ZThe update is coming by next week. It will return the turning as it was before. Also, this aircraft does have differential brakes. You'll be fine.
In reply toadam.alhayek⬆:Francis @LeadDeveloper2025-01-26 17:38:54.195ZSo watch this https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2364312430
turning might be a bit heavier than before, nothing serious but it can be tweaked for a late February release. If you see the top view camera almost at the end of the video you'll see she turns well. And I was just using an XBOX controller.
In reply toadam.alhayek⬆:Francis @LeadDeveloper2025-02-13 00:35:41.374ZThe update should be released by early next week. It has been green lit.
Also, the plane itself has differential brakes.- MMika Aghai @Mikakson
Does this update also include for the B787-9? Thanks! Super excited!
Francis @LeadDeveloper2025-02-13 14:07:38.438ZThis update doesn't include the 787-9, no.

I do have one more issue i would like to address but i felt like addressed it already and I hate when I have to bother you guys with same thing twice. This issue did get better but i still think it needs some improvement.
It’s about the rear wheels touching the runway and it definitely got much better but i still see it floating before the front nose touches the ground.
Do you mind if I post a small clip on YouTube and show it to you?
Francis @LeadDeveloper2025-02-13 16:00:51.120ZHi Adam, this is a serious issue for me.
It will change many parameters on the aircraft, requiring a long list of elements to be shifted.
Because this is a mod where the nose of the aircraft must be located exactly where the default 787-10 cockpit is, the reference datum remains the same as the variant -10.Let me focus on that, bit by bit, solely on the 787-8. Day by day to get those wheels working correctly.

Thank you Francis. I am enjoying this so much right now so if these fixes happen it’s going to be even better.
